Boundary‑line Japanese Knotweed assessment and a structured two‑year FAST System herbicide programme delivered with minimal disruption to car park operations.
Boundary‑Line Knotweed Assessment & Two‑Year FAST System Treatment Programme
At the request of Roys Wroxham Ltd, Invasive Vegetation Management & Treatment Ltd (IVM) carried out a full site assessment at the parcel of land adjacent to Station Road Car Park, Hoveton, Norwich (NR12 8UR). The inspection identified two live Japanese Knotweed shoots growing beneath a large conifer hedge on the northern boundary, along with a further area of historic dead stems in the north‑western corner.
Project Overview
Location: Station Road Car Park, Hoveton, Norwich, NR12 8UR
Client: Roys Wroxham Ltd
Site Type: Commercial car park / concrete slab with boundary vegetation
Contamination: Two live Knotweed shoots and one area of historic dead stems
Requirement: Two‑year herbicide treatment using the IVM FAST System
The Challenge
The Knotweed was located directly on the site boundary, emerging from beneath a dense conifer hedge and growing adjacent to active parking bays. A further area of historic dead stems indicated previous years’ growth, requiring monitoring throughout the programme. The client needed treatment to be carried out with minimal disruption to car park operations, while still ensuring safe access for customers and staff.
Our Solution
IVM implemented a structured two‑year herbicide programme using the IVM FAST System, targeting the two active shoots and monitoring the historic growth area. During the first year of treatment, two parking bays were temporarily closed using Heras fencing to ensure safe access and prevent disturbance to the treated areas. At the client’s request, the fencing was removed for the second year to allow full use of the car park while treatment continued.
Outcome
• All identified Knotweed areas successfully treated over the two‑year programme
• FAST System ensured deep‑route herbicide uptake for reliable long‑term control
• Parking bays reopened for full use during the second year of treatment
• Boundary‑line growth and historic stems fully monitored and suppressed
• Site now maintained under ongoing observation as required
